“Registration for the next edition will be open from February 1 to 24 via an online form”

In just over a week, the first edition of the course on renewable energy communities, organized by EC4RURAL, filled nearly all 50 available spots. This remarkable response highlights the public’s interest in learning about and engaging with sustainable energy production models.

The participants come from diverse backgrounds, including technical staff from Galician municipalities, municipal political leaders, technical staff from Rural Development Groups, professionals from various companies, and, above all, members of the general public.

The course program addresses all aspects of the energy transition led by local communities: from the concept of energy citizenship and an assessment of the current energy situation in each locality, to the procedures and legal frameworks enabling municipalities, small and medium-sized enterprises, and citizens to participate in collective energy transition initiatives. Additionally, it covers various business models that can support these collective initiatives, along with the technical processes required for their authorization and legalization. This content forms the final section of the online training.

The course is structured into six modules requiring a minimum of 32 hours of participant effort. Those who complete all the modules will receive a certificate of completion.
