The EC4RURAL project continues to make progress in Estonia to establish Rural Energy Communities in the twelve municipalities of Alutaguse, Elva, Hiiumaa, Järva, Lääne-Harju, Põltsamaa, Rõuge, Saku, Tori, Türi, Viimsi and Viru-Nigula.
Our Estonian partners, led by the University of Tartu, have started the Work Package 4 Training Module 3 named “Community engagement seminars”.
On 12th and 13th of November, Annika Oras shared her community experience from Kääpa Village that is located in Jõgevamaa. Her seminars took place in Elva municipality and Põltsamaa municipality.
Kääpa Village was just such a good example of community cooperation and it was an excellent opportunity to share the experience of their community building and how the process has transformed their lives for the better. Over 50% of people in Kääpa Village take part in the joint activities, they have created a local recycling centre, young people organize regular events and all this has created an important sense of belonging and basis for further cooperation.
On 14th and 19th, Eha Paas, master degree (MA) in community development and social wellbeing, looked deeper into modern community layers and meaning. The participants mapped the communities around them and the potential for cooperation.
