The EC4RURAL team has a tight agenda this month of October. In addition to our own events organised in the framework of the project, the team will be present at several key debates and forums on Rural Energy Communities both in Galicia and Estonia ande ven in other countries.
Wednesday, 2nd – Thursday, 3rd October | ELARD, partners of EC4RURAL presented our project at the European LEADER congress held during these two days in the city of Poitiers (France). It was attended by more than 440 representatives from 27 member states and candidate countries.
Thursday, 3rd – Tuesday, 8th – Wednesday, 9th October | The EC4RURAL community energy seminar series continues in the municipalities of Alutaguse, Tori and Saku on the topics of local energy planning. They will discuss the role of local climate plans and other development documents in energy economy transitions, how to actually monitor, equip and update them, as well as how the local government can promote small-scale energy for the benefit of the community.
Thursday, 10th October | Coordinator Xavier Simón travels from Vigo to Barcelona (Spain) to participate in the co-creation workshop ‘Exploring the transformative potential of Energy Communities in rural environments’. Organised by the Institute of Environmental Science and Technology of the Autonomous University of Barcelona (ICTA-UAB), in collaboration with the ECODES team, promoter of the Common Energy project.
Tuesday, 15th October | Official visit to the Municipality of Os Muíños (Ourense, Galicia) to hand over the ‘Town Council in Energy Transition’ sign, the plaque that EC4RURAL awards to the municipalities that are members of our project.
Thursday, 17th October | Meeting in Rianxo (Galicia), open to all citizens of the region of O Barbanza, to start the process of setting up a Rural Energy Community. We participate together with the Galician Wind Energy Observatory (OEGA).
Friday, 18th October | Xavier Simón participates in Vigo (Galicia) in the conference ‘Energy Communities as the engine of the energy transition. Multidisciplinary analysis for their development and implementation’ organised in the framework of another European project, www.eu-nets.eu.
Monday, 21st October | Training activity in Muras (Lugo, Galicia) on Rural Energy Communities.
Tuesday, 29th October | Conference in Santiago de Compostela (Galicia) on ‘Governance and participation processes in the deployment of renewable energies’, organised by the Spanish Network for Sustainable Development, in which we participated together with the Galician Wind Energy Observatory (OEGA).
Wednesday, 30th October | We are organising the conference ‘Distributed generation through Rural Energy Communities’ at the School of Mining and Energy Engineering of the University of Vigo. We will talk about the contributions of rural energy citizenship to the energy transition and the role of the academic institution in this change. Starts at 13:00h.
