About us

The EC4RURAL project, funded by the LIFE programme, aims to deepen and transform the relationship between local and regional authorities and rural communities and their citizens in order to contribute to the transition to clean energy in Europe through active and fair participation that does not leave these communities behind.

Rural Energy Communities

EC4RURAL will implement a new paradigm shift through 2 pilots, in Estonia and Spain, with rural energy communities producing electricity through photovoltaic panels on the roofs of public buildings. A total of 34 case studies will be carried out in different rural communities with the aim of planting the seeds for replicability, not only in the participating regions, but also at European level.

Toolkit

EC4RURAL promotes action and practicality with useful content to support the energy transition of rural areas. In this section you will be able to consult methodologies for analysing the energy situation of localities. Practical guides, informative videos and policy recommendations are also available.

Training

EC4RURAL is committed to providing easy access to training to ensure that citizens are informed to develop rural energy communities. Priority will be given to face-to-face and participatory training, and both the training activities and the resources needed to carry them out will be available online. The aim is to make training accessible to rural areas, which are often isolated and far from training centres.
